[1] Effective 12 August 2017, the East West College of Natural Medicine (EWCNM) was denied institutional accreditation and the Master of Oriental Medicine program was placed on Probation until August 2018 by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM or Commission), at which time Probation and programmatic accreditation were extended for good cause until February 2019. The 165-credit MS in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree includes all of the MS in Acupuncture coursework with the addition of herbal therapeutics. Is "Oriental medicine" just a Chinese tradition? Asia is a big place with many groups of peoples who share a long, and often messy, history spanning thousands of years. [13] She graduated in 1987 from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine and graduated in 1988 from the Tri-State College of Acupuncture. [14] SBU will continue to participate in public events and health fairs to promote South Baylo University as well as to reach out to the Hispanic community for their growing interest in field of Eastern medicine. [17] My reticence regarding traditional medicine does not result from want of experienceindeed, I have spent so much time in hospitals during my life that I am all too familiar with traditional treatments. [38] While you make a great case for the value of alternative therapies, you should not discount the worth of traditional medicine altogether. [38]

The courses do not lead to a degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, nor can they be used for licensure, licensure recertification, or certification in TCM, Acupuncture, or Dry Needling. Not surprisingly, too many of the clinics displayed "oriental" symbols (such as the yin yang and Chinese characters) as a way to signal "authenticity" to their clients, many of whom have a limited understanding of the linguistic and philosophical/religious contexts of TCM. [13]

For someone like me, a Han Chinese woman who grew up with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the increasing trendiness of some TCM practices--such as acupuncture--makes me uncomfortable and concerned. Dr. Ji studied Chinese medicine classics in a master-disciple program supported by the government of China with Master Tan, who was elected as one of the Famous and Veteran Physicians of Chinese Medicine.
