NEW YORK -- When uninitiated Americans think of traditional Chinese medicine, their first thoughts might be of an elderly Asian man performing acupuncture behind a curtain, or someone's grandmother dishing out a questionable concoction of pungent herbs. [31] Because traditional Chinese medicine differs from Western medical practice in diagnosis and treatment methods, it is difficult to apply Western scientific standards to it. [28] Traditional Chinese medicine doctors may use several types of treatment to restore qi balance. [28] In traditional Chinese medicine, each person might receive a different treatment for the same illness depending on the person's own qi and yin-yang balance. [28] Traditional Chinese medicine doctors look at the balance of body, mind, and spirit to determine how to restore qi, the yin-yang balance, and good health. [28] Traditional Chinese medicine is a system of medicine partly based on the idea that an energy, called qi (say "chee"), flows along pathways in the body called meridians. [28]

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient and profound healing art that originated more than 3,000 years ago. [26] In China, doctors have practiced traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years, and it is gaining in popularity in many Western countries. [28] Traditional Chinese medicine focuses on maintaining the yin-yang balance to maintain health and prevent illness. [28] Traditional Chinese medicine first found a niche here among those let down by or frustrated with Western medicine and the opaque financial dealings of Big Pharma. [31] A Bachelor of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the way to achieve your goals in this field. [27] Another important concept in traditional Chinese medicine is the concept of yin and yang. [28] Some people use traditional Chinese medicine to treat problems such as asthma, allergies, and infertility. All patients in the non-TCM user group received only standardized chemotherapy according to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN,2011) Clinical Practice Guidelines of NSCLC. All patients in the TCM user group received Chinese medicine therapy consisting of Chinese herbal decoction, Chinese patent drug, and correlative injection, together with standardized chemotherapy. [21] Acupuncture and Chinese herbal remedies date back at least 2,200 years, although the earliest known written record of Chinese medicine is the Huangdi neijing ( The Yellow Emperor?s Inner Classic ) from the 3rd century bce. [18] HUTCM offers bachelor's degrees in medicine, management, engineering science, and arts with 14 specialties as Chinese medicine, herbology, pharmaceutical engineering, acupuncture and tuina, integrated Chinese-Western medicine, and public management. [16] This elementary approach ignores the deeper insight and experience of Chinese medicine that the human body has unlimited healing power and that the complementary energies of health and disease reflect the yinyang principle within the human body. [18] L. Jiao, C. Dong, J. Liu et al., "Effects of Chinese medicine as adjunct medication for adjuvant chemotherapy treatments of non-small cell lung cancer patients," Scientific Reports, vol. 7, Article ID 46524, 2017. [21] Thirdly, the patients treated with a longer period of Chinese medicine (such as 1, 3, and 5 years) were not observed and followed up. [21] Therefore, whether Chinese medicine can reduce tumor recurrence and metastasis and prolong the survival of patients with NSCLC has become a hot topic in the field of Chinese medicine oncology. [21] All patients could choose to use oral Chinese medicine decoction added and subtracted from the standardized agent based on their core pathogenesis. [21] In the second half of the 16th century, tenuous communication began with medical representatives from the West, and the character of Chinese medicine began to change. [18] Various Western scientific disciplines have conducted studies to learn how Chinese medicine works, but it is difficult to use a Western yardstick to measure Eastern medicine. [18] V. B. Like conventional medicines, traditional Chinese herbal medicines may also cause side effects, trigger allergic reactions, or interact with other prescription and nonprescription medicines or herbs. [28] "I entered college planning to go on to medical school but was becoming disenchanted with the medical model that relied so heavily on pharmaceuticals," recalls Anna Panettiere, an independent practitioner of acupuncture and Chinese medicine in New York.
