Proposals are invited from IEEE Organizational Units for projects that promote public understanding about how science and technology are being or could be used to address global challenges – including energy, cybersecurity, security, health care, and sustainability. [24] These proposals must offer convincing evidence that climate change mitigation or adaptation is the central goal of the project and not secondary to other ongoing conservation initiatives. [2] Including members from The Nature Conservancy and Wildlife Conservation Society in your proposal is strongly encouraged but not required. [2] All proposals should have some working group members whose organizations (e.g., government agencies, NGOs, corporations) are in a position to implement the findings of the working groups. [2] Successful working group proposals will include a letter or email endorsement from one or more implementation organizations, agencies, or corporations (whose staff are participating in the working group) stating why the working group?s efforts are important and what they intend to do with the results. [2] Successful proposals will clearly articulate the likely series of actions and intended outcomes that will ensue as a result of the new knowledge, methods, strategies or tools produced by the working group. [2]

Funding for contract or short-term, part-time assistance with specific analyses and database management tasks may be available up to an annual limit of USD25,000 for two years if clearly justified in the proposal. [2] Note that you must submit both a proposal and a separate budget worksheet. [2] Individuals and organizations from the humanitarian and development sectors are encouraged to submit SNAPP proposals. [2] We invite SNAPP proposals to synthesize available evidence across environmental, social, medical, economic and other sciences and engineering to identify transferable logic models for any common sanitation solutions, and to evaluate the strength of existing evidence for their effectiveness in producing outcomes for the environment, equity, health and other human well-being improvements. [2] No. However, most funded SNAPP proposals contain scientists or conservation practitioners from TNC or WCS because the global breadth and depth of their field teams enable them to implement results, recommendations, and other products that result from SNAPP working groups. [2] Are you interested in natural solutions to climate change? Sanitation and water security? So are we! While this year?s Request for Proposals remains open to globally important issues at the interface of conservation, development and human well-being, proposals centered around these climate and sanitation themes are especially welcome. [2] For this year?s SNAPP Request for Proposals, those proposals that have secured new outside funding in addition to SNAPP funding will be given preferential consideration in the proposal review process. [2]

The full text of the LIFE+ Regulation and information for each LIFE+ component – including how to apply for funding, project selection criteria and application forms – can be found on the funding section of the LIFE website. [21] The LIFE homepage also contains information on the LIFE III programme and projects, including a user-friendly database of all LIFE projects funded since 1992. [21]

It contains an indicative budget, explains the selection methodology for projects and for operating grants and establishes outcome indicators for the two LIFE sub-programmes – for Environment and for Climate Action. [21] The general objective of LIFE is to contribute to the implementation, updating and development of EU environmental and climate policy and legislation by co-financing projects with European added value. [21] In 1993, the sustainable development and environmental quality component of LIFE I focused on projects relating to the textile, tannery, paper and agro-food industries; waste reduction and recycling demonstration projects; decontamination of polluted sites; sustainable development in agriculture, transport and tourism; urban transport; and modernisation of environmental monitoring networks. [21] For the first time LIFE project funding also will be provided through innovative financial instruments. [21] The adoption of the Single European Act in 1986, which for the first time gave EU environmental policy a firm treaty basis, along with the Fifth Environment Action Programme, approved in 1993, really opened the door for the LIFE funding mechanism. [21] The LIFE Programme (French: L?Instrument Financier pour l?Environnement) is the European Union ?s funding instrument for the environment and climate action. [21] The Regulation establishes the Environment and Climate Action sub-programmes of the LIFE Programme for the next funding period, 2014-2020. [21] The LIFE multiannual work programme for 2014-2017 has been adopted by a Commission Decision on 19 March 2014, after having received a positive opinion of the Committee for the LIFE Programme for the Environment and Climate Action on 17 February 2014. [21] The European Commission ( DG Environment and DG Climate Action ) manages the LIFE programme. [21] The LIFE programme will contribute to sustainable development and to the achievement of the objectives and targets of the Europe 2020 Strategy, the 7th Union Environmental Action Programme and other relevant EU environment and climate strategies and plans. [21]

The LIFE Environment sub-programme contributes to one such instrument, the pilot Natural Capital Financing (NCFF) financial instrument, which falls under the Nature and Biodiversity project area and will help finance biodiversity projects, amongst other things. [21] The Nature & Biodiversity component continues and extends the former LIFE Nature programme. [21] LIFE began in 1992 and to date there have been four complete phases of the programme (LIFE I: 1992-1995, LIFE II: 1996-1999, LIFE III: 2000-2006 and LIFE+: 2007-2013). [21] The Environment Policy & Governance component continues and extends the former LIFE Environment programme. [21] These data include, for men and women — national life expectancies at age 40 by year and income percentile; — state and commuting zone life expectancies by year and income quartile; and — county life expectancies by income quartile. [29] The first phase of LIFE was succeeded by LIFE II, also running for four years but with an increased budget of ECU 450 million, covering an enlarged EU (Austria, Finland and Sweden joined in 1995). [21] In September 2004, with the publication of Regulation (EC) No 1682/2004, LIFE III was extended for a further two years (2005 and 2006), with an additional budget of 317 million. [21] With this fund, and its first-phase budget of ECU 400 million, LIFE I (Council Regulation 1973/92) was born. [21]

With “Life Everywhere” as a motto, participants are invited to celebrate life, celebrate the extraordinary diversity of forms evolving in our planet for millions of years, celebrate our existence. [20]

Specifically, the report examined the role of the LIFE programme in the implementation and development of European environmental policy and legislation, and the actual management of LIFE III. [21] The fourth phase of the LIFE programme, LIFE+, ran from 2007-2013 and had a budget of 2.143 billion. [21]

By way of exception, a co-financing rate of up to 75 percent of the total eligible costs may be granted to LIFE+ Nature proposals that focus on concrete conservation actions for priority species or habitat types of the Birds and Habitats Directives. [21] Topics of Interest Applicants from the social sciences and public health are encouraged to submit proposals utilizing this new data resource (possibly in combination with other data sources). [29] Successful finalists will be notified by the foundation on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, and will be invited to submit a second-stage proposal online via proposalCENTRAL. [30] The deadline for notification about whether or not I have been selected to submit second-stage proposal has passed. [30] First- stage proposals can only be changed prior to the September 11, 2018 deadline. [30] Proposals sent directly by applicants to the Commission will not be accepted. [21] The European Commission also organises information workshops for potential LIFE+ applicants in each EU Member State, providing valuable advice and guidance on what national authorities and the Commission expect from project proposals in national languages. [21] Member States forward project proposals to the Commission, may set national priorities and may prepare comments on proposals, in particular in relation to national annual priorities. [21]

The SCOL steering committee will review all first-stage proposals and forward recommendations to the Simons Foundation science staff for their review. [30] In the first phase, applicants submit a first-stage proposal via proposalCENTRAL. [30] Your references must submit their confidential letters of recommendation by Thursday, September 6, 2018, to avoid any delay with your first-stage proposal deadline. [30] The submission deadline for first-stage proposals is Tuesday, September 11, 2018, 5:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time. [30]

First-stage proposals may be submitted from scientists in foreign nonprofit organizations; public and private institutions, such as colleges, universities, hospitals, laboratories and units of state and local government; and eligible agencies of the federal government. [30]

All awards will be for a 1-year project period, starting March 1, 2017. (Note that there is no opportunity to extend the funding period.) [29] The Natural History and Science Museum of the University of Porto and Cicia Viva will host the 28th Annual Conference of Ecsite, the European network of science centres and museums, between 15 and 17 June 2017. [20] Application Deadline and Guidelines Applications will be accepted through Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at 5 pm Eastern Time (ET).
